There’s so much on the market for newborn babies and the real truth is we don’t need even half of it. Mom has pretty much everything a new baby needs to be happy, calm and grow for the first year. A newborn craves the presence of their mother, her skin and warmth, and the milk her body naturally produces. We all know breast is best, but sometimes our bodies just don’t allow for it just as I’ve struggled with my inability to breastfeed both my kids. It’s important, but there’s other elements of importance to a newborn such as love, kisses and plenty of skin to skin contact.
One of the first things the medical staff does when your baby comes out is placing them on your chest briefly for that glorious minute when you get to meet your baby for the first time. It’s a powerful moment and one that is permanently etched in my memory.
This is my JP on his actual birthday, just a few hours old. I held him on my chest all night, keeping him warm and snuggled with skin to skin contact. Skin to skin promotes parent/child bonding and plays a huge role in helping the milk production.
As any new mom, I wanted the best for my baby. It was around the 2 month mark that his severe eczema reared it’s ugly head and I had to be cautious about what touched his skin. Here we were at the pediatrician who concluded he had eczema.
This is why I chose to use only the simplest and purest baby care products for both my kids. WaterWipes contain 99.9% pure Irish water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract to protect baby’s delicate, sensitive skin with no added chemicals, fragrances, and other substances. Best of all, it’s perfect for babies and toddlers that suffer from eczema!
This video about the importance of skin resonated with me and made me think of my babies when they were newborns. Watch for yourself and see what I’m talking about…
