Mother’s day weekend is probably my favorite weekend of the whole year – wanna know why? It’s the one weekend of the year I can sit back and let the people I take care of all year take care of me for a change. It’s the day I get my coffee made for me and brought to me in bed, It’s the day that I don’t have to do laundry and it’s definitely not a day that I cook either.
In motherhood, there is no vacation, no sick days or paid leave – so for me, mother’s day is all of that rolled into one. To celebrate the occasion, I’ll be raising my glass to some JaM Cellars Butter Chardonnay and munch on my favorite crackers and cheese.
Between all my projects I have going, I spend the majority of my time being mommy. My days are filled with keeping this little girl happy. We play, watch sesame street, play peek-a-boo until she gets good and tired and goes down for a nap.
Since last mother’s day, I’ve been adjusting to my new life as a mom of 2 and over the past year haven’t slept much. Lately it’s been slowly getting better because we finally got Melody to sleep a full 12 hours wheras before she would only sleep 4-5 hours at a time. Then there’s my son who insists on sleeping beside me with his elbow in my side when I DO have the luxury of sleeping in my bed. I can never catch a break!
So pardon me if I can’t contain my excitement for the day’s events pass and anxiously wait for the clock to tick past 5. Mom needs to get her Butter on! Nothing I like better than to enjoy it with some crackers n cheese because it such a smooth, tasty wine. I can’t wait for everyone to go to bed on Sundays and Mondays so I can watch all my favorite reality shows in peace with a glass of Butter Chardonnay. No crying children, no husband fighting me for the remote and definitely no elmo or annoying nursery songs! Maybe if I’m lucky, I might get to paint my nails too!
