Going through the baby journey as my sweet daughter approaches her first birthday has got me in abit of a twist these days. On one side, I’m excited that she’s growing up and by that I mean she’s moving away from bottles and diapers. On the other side, I’m trying to savor every moment of her as a baby because I know for sure that she is my last.
Having a baby monitor is great not just for babies, but just to have an extra set of eyes in the back of your head when you have toddlers and kids running around. With a curious little girl and an energetic boy I need as much help as possible keeping tabs on them while I do house chores and go about my day.
I received the VTech VM343 Safe&Sound® Expandable Digital Video Baby Monitor and it’s been so nice to have it covertly placed on our fireplace mantle. I chose the living room as the room I’d like to monitor because our house is pretty small and we spend the most time of our day in that space. That said, I don’t need a loudspeaker next to my ear when she wakes up in the middle of the night – cries from the room next are heard just fine! With 270 degrees of camera tilt and panning, I can see every nook and cranny of the living room. I like the ability to see what goes on during the day while I do things like use the bathroom for a few minutes.
The display is crystal clear and has a large 4.3″ rechargeable monitor that can add up to 4 additional cameras to monitor other rooms if I so desire. Since baby girl began walking at 10 months, her main interest is to check things out. I caught her on camera one morning while I was getting dressed – She was fully engrossed in an episode of sesame street! I smiled and wondered to myself how much longer this stage would last. By the time JP was 4, he thought such shows were for babies and would tell me as much. Seriously mom, I’m 4 now. Sesame street is so last year!
The first time around I didn’t really realize just how fast a baby grows into a child because I was too caught up with each stage he went through. Then one day, I looked up he was starting kindergarten! With baby #2, I have a little more appreciation for just relaxing and enjoying the crazy ride of toddler-hood!
