Like most people out there, one of my greatest recipe resources is Pinterest. I often hop on there when I’m idle waiting on things like doctor appointments and when I’m alone in the car waiting in the school pickup line. Having a data plan on my phone used to be an optional feature way back when I rocked a Motorola flip phone, but now I couldn’t live without a smart phone with a data plan. There’s always a situation where you need to pull something up when you’re away from home! I use Walmart Family Mobile’s affordable plan for unlimited talk text and data/web for $29.88/month including 1 gig of 4G LTE data. That deal is for the first line, but if you need better than that, you can opt for the bigger plan at $39.88 and you get 3 gigs of LTE data. Their phones are incredibly affordable too – you can great an amazing smart phone starting from $29.88 for the ZTE Zinger.

So I discovered this easy baked donut recipe while pinteresting a few days ago (courtesy of It’s always autumn), and it’s haunted me ever since I saw it. I caved and finally decided to make it and satisfy my sweet tooth. Since I was making it on the fly and I only had my mobile phone handy, I decided to pull up the recipe through my pinterest app and follow the instructions that way. So convenient to have a reference that’s small and out of the way when you’re baking and making a mess.
So here’s what you need for the donuts:
- 1 box of cake mix
- 1 cup of water
- 1/4 cup of vegetable oil
- 1 egg
Mix it all up and spoon it into a donut pan and pop it in a preheated oven (350F) for 14-16 minutes or until you pull out a dry toothpick when you test the center.
While that’s baking, make the frosting by combining the following:
- 1 1/2 cup of confectioner’s sugar
- 2 tbsp of melted butter
- 3 tbsp of milk (or more)
Mix everything in a bowl until it has a medium-thick consistency. You may need to add more or less milk – use your own judgement.
Once the donuts are cooled off, dip each one in the frosting and let it dry on the cooling rack. This is also when you can decorate them with sprinkles if you wish. If you have kids this is a really fun part they can take part of.
I’m so glad I tried this recipe! They taste as good as they look! I wonder how many more great recipe ideas I can find with my mobile phone.. Only time will tell!
What do you use your mobile data plan for? I’d love to hear!
