Do you and your family plan any special outings for memorial day weekend? As far as our family goes, memorial day is the kickoff for summer season and we almost always enjoy some family time together, backyard grilling with a water activity. Not only is it a day to remember our heroes and celebrate the sacrifices they made for us, It’s a special day because to JP because it represents the end of school and the beginning of summer fun and games.
I made a few sweet treats in preparation for our weekend, and this one is by far my favorite! TWIX® bite-size chocolate candy made the perfect chocolate chips for my cookies. Instead of using the regular chips, I decided to sub it for crushed up TWIX® candy that I spotted at Walmart this weekend. I love those little sample demonstrations – I always get sold on whatever they are promoting!
Did you know that they have an awesome promotion going on too? Get $1.00 off when you buy two 2.83oz bags or 3.00$ when you purchase two 6oz or larger of these bite-size delights!
I thought that crushed up TWIX® would bring both chocolate AND caramel to a plain a cookie dough and take it from an ordinary dessert to an extraordinary one.
In hindsight, I should have stored the bag of TWIX® in the freezer overnight so the bite-size pieces would be completely solid when I run them in the food processor to crumble them. It still worked out fine, but I think having them frozen beforehand would have make a more uniform crumble.
So using this basic cookie dough recipe, I sub’ed the chocolate chips for my chocolate/caramel crumbles instead!
- 2 1/2 cups of flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 sticks of unsalted butter
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1 pkg of crumbled TWIX® bites
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda and salt and set it aside. In another bowl, cream together the 2 sticks of butter with the brown & white sugars until it’s light and fluffy. Add in the eggs & vanilla and beat until it’s smooth. Slowly combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until it creates a thick dough. The dough should be a little softer than play dough. Add in the TWIX® bites and spoon it onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 350F
The perfect pair!!! #EatMoreBites #CollectiveBias

The only thing better than traditional chocolate chip cookies is adding in TWIX Bites! #client
