I’m sure all parents of the world can sympathize when you come to the realization that “date nights” are a figment of your past life before children. This June my hubby and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary together – It’s hard to believe I’ve been married that long because it feels like it was yesterday when we said our I do’s! Nonetheless, finding the opportunity to go out and celebrate is just exhausting, and it’s so much easier to just spend a special evening at home together. With trying to save for our family vacation next month, we decided to do something cheap and low-key. My suggestion? The kids get sent to the grandparents for the weekend and we get a Tombstone Pizza & a 1.25L bottle of Coca-Cola™ from Dollar General for under $5. There’s even an extra $1 off coupon through Dollar General’s loyalty program for added savings.
Nothing hits the spot better than a cold glass of Coca-Cola™ over ice with a slice of hot, freshly made pizza. I must say for an inexpensive frozen pizza product, Tombstone Pizza is surprisingly delicious! With a thin, crispy crust this pizza had all the taste, texture & bite of a real restaurant pizzeria pizza. I also love that since these pizzas have minimal packaging and no huge cardboard boxes to discard.
- Visit Dollar General and pick up a Tombstone Pizza and a 1.25L Coca-Cola™ product
- Get a $1 movie rental from one of those self-serve movie rental kiosks
- Send the kids to grandma’s for the weekend.
Our date night couldn’t have been better even if we had gone out to a fancy restaurant – Besides, I’d rather spend that extra money on the countless other things we need! What would you do with your extra savings?
