When gameday rolls around, we are big on calling our friends over to enjoy the day and share in some fun eating adventures. There’s no shortage of great sports events to watch at this time of year so friends of ours come prepared to come hang out and spend the afternoon eating with us. Usually that means I cook up something yummy, get the fridge well stocked on Coca-Cola and get out my extra chairs.
Since I’m as much a fan as any, I don’t like to be caught up in the kitchen making food while everyone watches the game. I enjoy being part of the party – so that means it’s important to have food with easy prep.
Everybody loves fluffy bread rolls and nothing is more simple than putting together a meat & cheese tray! Add in some favorite condiments & my super easy to make creamy coleslaw and call it done. Here’s what you need to make it:
- 1 bag of shredded cabbage/carrot mix
- 1 cup mayo
- 1/4 cup of sour cream
- 1 tablespoon of dijon mustard
- 1 tsp of white vinegar
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoons celery salt
In a small bowl, mix the mayo, sour cream, mustard & vinegar. Mix in the onion powder, sugar and celery salt, then add in the bag of shredded cabbage. Mix until it’s well coated and chill for atleast 2 hours before serving.
When I was at Dollar General I picked up some random party items like paper plates, plastic tablecloth, napkins and last but not least – Coca-Cola! It’s amazing how just a few inexpensive items can really pull a party together. Dollar General is great for getting the essentials you need quickly – and it’s a great way to save too! Download the Dollar General app and start getting great offers sent directly to your phone when you are near a DG store in your neighborhood!
