I sometimes can’t believe that my baby girl is almost 2 years old! It feels like it was yesterday when I was stumbling through an exhausting pregnancy with her. I almost made it to full term, but this little girl was determined to get out and see the world – born at just 5 lbs 15 oz and 3 weeks early Melody Madelyn made her debut in the world.

… And big brother was simply elated!

I’m so thankful that I have these images to look back on. Even though they are just cell phone shots and not the carefully posed portraits taken with my big camera, they mean the world to me. It helps flood back those very first memories of us as a family of 4.

As with every newborn baby comes the responsibility of snuggling, loving, holding, feeding and last but not least, diaper changes.

Newborn skin, especially the diaper area can be extremely sensitive –  girls are prone to rashes and freshly circumcised boys have wounds that can be irritated by chemical substances. This is why I loved waterwipes – they are made with 99.9% pure Irish water, 0.1% grapefruit seed extract and a durable wipe to clean the messiest of messes.

Mommin’ ain’t easy and it doesn’t take much for us moms to keep from second guessing every decision made in regard to your child. It was nice having some peace on mind that I wasn’t introducing any soapy chemicals to her sensitive parts. I once had a bad reaction to a particular soap as an adult and it was no fun!

Here is my little muffin at about 5 months

and a few months later at about 13 months…

It blows my mind just how quickly she has grown into a little toddler..

See here how some fellow bloggers recount how life was for that wonderful 1st year
