If cheerios makes me think of anything, it brings me back to breakfast time as a child. Coupled with fruit and yogurt, it can be the breakfast of the champs! I couldn’t resist buying this specially marked package from Walmart for the coupon that came with it because it allows you to gift a box to someone. Who wouldn’t want a free box gifted to them!?
Similar to other popular cereals, did you know that there’s bunches of delicious recipes out there that use these little o’s? I decided to make some treat bars with mine – I took it a step further and added chocolate and coconut just to make it extra special.
Treats like this happen when I clean the pantry out – I had a bag full of leftover smores marshmallows and needed to use them. I melted them with 3 tablespoons of butter in a large pan on a medium heat.
Once its all melted, I poured in 6 cups of the cheerios and stirred thoroughly to coat it all evenly.
Aren’t those strings awesome?? LOVE it!
I pressed it into a container lined with parchment paper and put it in the fridge to chill, but I still felt it needed something more. Chocolate is ALWAYS a great idea! All I did was melt a package of chocolate chips with a tablespoon of butter on low heat until it was silky smooth, then poured it over the top of my cheerios treat.
…..I still felt it needed more, so I topped it off with coconut. Now we’re talking!!
