Carving out some time for me #AD #TheChoiceMovie

There’s something wonderful about preparing myself for a bath where I know I’m going to close the door and check out for a few. I don’t usually have the luxury of soaking in peace for very long, so when I get the chance I like to take full advantage. This week I was determined to get some time to myself, soaking and reading a favorite book. It’s one of those simple pleasures that any mom can appreciate. Luckily for me, my husband knows this and takes over with the kids when I need to step away. When you’re married, love comes in many forms and it’s not always hugs and kisses. I always oblige when he wants to go to a concert with a buddy and I fully expect the same when I need time away. For us, love is having that mutual understanding for each other when the other has had enough and needs a break. For us, it works and keeps us functioning as sane parents 🙂

Then the other night I saw a window of opportunity, perfect timing or so I thought. It was just after dinner with JP was quietly watching TV and Melody was playing happily in her playpen that I thought I could sneak off to draw a hot bath for myself . Everybody was fed and occupied, so I thought I’d grab my chance while I could.

“Tonight I’m taking a bath and I’m going to lock the door, so be sure that the house is burning down if you expect me to open it for any reason” I told my husband as I hurried off and headed to my little retreat in the next room.

The book I was about to delve in was one of those books that they made into a movie –  the new Nicholas Sparks movie, The Choice that’s coming out Feb..5th. If you’re one for tear-jerkers, you’ll love this one. It’s all about being in love, difficult choices and believing in destiny to find your perfect match.

With my lit candles and scented bubbles, I was 1000 miles away hearing subtle baby noises in the distance. It got noisier and noisier until finally I heard a firm knock on the bathroom door.

“……What it is?” I asked, hesitating.

“Your daughter crapped her diaper,”  He replied. “I need your help”

And with that, bath time was over.
