I attended a party that was sponsored by Minute® Rice and got together with some other local bloggy buddies to kick back and enjoy some festive food together before we do it all over again with family. I love my babies more than anything, but sometimes it’s refreshing to get out of the house and hang out with other grown people! All opinions expressed are my own.
These events are always so much fun – There’s yummy treats and snacks prepared just like these, and the decor was just amazing! I love a beautiful tablescape… It was almost too nice to mess up! Like this spread of yummy goodies… The ham was good, but the rice dish really gave it a nice compliment. Shhh, don’t tell – they used Minute® Rice! Such a huge time saver when you’re making lotsa little dishes for a party like this.
Minute® Rice is like my dirty little kitchen secret.. Nutritionally speaking, it’s got everything regular rice has and it’s nearly impossible to mess up. I’ll admit it – I’m not very good at making rice so I’m thankful that there’s a few different varieties of Minute® Rice available. I really enjoy that I can have perfectly cooked white rice, brown rice or the multi-grain in a matter of minutes.. It leaves me the extra time to focus on the main dish or another yummy side. Rice is naturally gluten free, so it’s been a key food in my diet lately.
…And the table looked like this:
I love how the hostess of the party used Minute® Rice to fill the inside of the glass that held the candle. It added some clever seasonal texture to the overall look of the decor – gonna file that idea away and use it someday..
Finally, it was time to sit down, kick back and enjoy some fun time!
Need an easy recipe for Thanksgiving? Try this one! Wine & Mushroom Brown Rice is easily made in less than 20 minutes. Your guests will think you’re a 5 star chef!
- 2 cups of COOKED Brown Minute® Rice
- 1 cup of sliced mushrooms (I used baby bella)
- 3 green onions (chopped)
- 1 Tablespoon of butter
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1/3 cup white wine
- 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
Prepare 2 cups of brown rice according to the package directions & set aside. In a separate pan, melt the butter with the olive oil on med-high. Once the pan is hot, transfer in your mushrooms, onions and garlic and let them soften for about 2-3 minutes. Add in the white wine and stir – let it simmer and cook off the alcohol for a minute. Add in the brown rice, season with salt and serve!
