Sometimes I enjoy surprising my husband with something unexpected & out of the blue. The new ‘share a coke‘ campaign that you see everywhere inspired me to make a special treat for him – just because! I came across the “better half” 12pk of Coca Cola while shopping at Brookshires grocery store last week and it made me think of him. I love it when I have the chance to go there because the store is never crammed with people and best of all they help you out to your car and load you up! When you have 2 small kids, this is sooo helpful – it definitely keeps me a return customer when I have to tote them along with me.
I love that old-timey service! I remember that’s what grocery stores were like when I was a kid.
So in keeping up with the old fashioned theme, I decided it would be fun to share an old fashioned ice cream soda with my better half!
It was a snap to make one – all you need is the following:
- 1 can of coca cola
- vanilla ice cream
- whipped cream
- chocolate syrup
- maraschino cherries
I used a tall highball glass and I started by filling my glass with the coca cola. Leave a few inches of space in the glass so you can add a big scoop of ice cream! Next, add in a tablespoon of chocolate syrup then a large scoop of ice cream. It helps if you let the ice cream soften so you can scoop out a perfect ball. Then I swirled on some whipped cream and finished it off with a cherry on top!
So when my hubby came home from work, he loves to sit in his “chair” and chill. He’s not so much a beer guy, rather he prefers a sweet drink like sweet tea or coca cola when he wants to kick back. It’s old fashioned, but when he comes home, I always try to make him comfortable from his long hard day with something to drink while he unwinds. He has a pretty stressful job, so I know part of keeping him happy is taking his mind off of it.
I couldn’t think of anyone else I’d rather share a coke with! I love my better half for so many reasons – without him, I don’t know what i’d do! If you’re a Brookshires shopper, keep an eye on Brookshire’s Facebook page for a chances to win yourpoints, offers, fun and conversation.
