This is an exciting time of year in the arena of sports – its when parties happen with delicious appetizers and drinks flow freely. In other words, the entire country sits and watches the big game every Sunday to see who will get one step closer to the end.
We are certainly no exception, and each weekend we enjoy indulging on yummy game day foods like DiGiorno® Pepperoni STUFFED CRUST® Pizza. While I love me some pizza, I also wanted to have some other goodies available such as Ritz Crackers with some cold & fizzy Coca-Cola to wash it all down.
Ritz Crackers are great on their own, but they can be brought to a whole new level if you dress them up the right way. I got the new bacon flavored ones and I loved the hint and aroma of bacon that each bite had. I paired it up with my favorite pimento cheese spread and topped it off with some real bacon bits.
A plateful of these is sure to put a smile on your guests face! I even got the Garlic Butter Ritz Crackers and topped those off with seasoned diced tomatoes in the can, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled it with some parsley.
Some of my other goodies included mini BLT sandwiches, corn chips and my personal favorite – cherry coke! I’m not a big fan of the kind that’s already made, I always make my own with maraschino cherries and grenadine syrup. Its so easy to make – add a dash of grenadine to your cup, pour in the coke and garnish with the cherries.
Last but certainly not least, I baked some frozen pepperoni pizzas made by DiGiorno. Although the instructions say to cook it at 400F, I have my own way of cooking it for a crispier crust. I always preheat the oven to 450F, and broil it for a few minutes after
Mmmm – Almost ready!! When I pull my pizza out of the oven, I always let it sit for 5 minutes to cool. When you cut it immediately, the cheese and pepperoni slide off and and it becomes a big, goopy mess.
I totally fell in love with the cheesy stuffed crust!!
I sliced my pizza into small slivers so guests could enjoy the other yummies that I had to offer. I served them in little red baskets just for fun!
I found everything I needed to make this a successs at my local Walmart – including the red & white checkered paper for my baskets! Watch out for rollbacks on DiGiorno Pizza too!
Do you and your family have any big game traditions? I’d love to hear about them!
