Sometimes its fun to do a little creating around the house, just as a means of stress relief if nothing else. Tulip for your home has a great line up of products that make it fun and easy to create something beautiful. Home decor DIY is one of my favorites and  I’m partial to it primarily because you can customize your craft to exactly how you want it to suit your style.

I had the pleasure of trying out the new line of TULIP products for home decor and I had so much fun with it! I went shopping for these products at my local Hobby Lobby, but I also heard that you can buy these at JoAnn’s as well. I came home with a nice bag of loot – 2 stencils, a pillow cover, 5 colors of TULIP soft paint, a roller, spray adhesive, fabric….. the list goes on!

I first started by making some artwork… When I was at hobby lobby, I spotted some art in their canvas section and I thought I could mimic it and make something similar for a lot less. Using the paisley stencil, a canvas, silver, gold and black paints I came up with this!

Super easy to make!

  1. Paint the canvas black
  2. Use the adhesive spray on the back of the stencil to hold it in place on the canvas
  3. Lay the stencil down on the canvas and make sure its laying flat
  4. Dab silver and gold all over
  5. Peel it up when you’re done and re-position it

No living room makeover is complete without some new curtains and a pillow – so I picked up a cute little bird stencil and followed the same idea… Spray with the stencil with the adhesive, position it and paint!

It also dries faster than nail polish – I love that!

And of course, last but not least – I made some curtains. I decided to try using burlap simply because its an interesting texture especially when painted… The sponge roller really came in handy!!

Using the same idea, I repeated the stencil so it made even stripes…

I sewed a simple seam along the top so I could pass a curtain rod through it, and hung it up!

I’m loving the seasonal feel to it – I’m gearing up for halloween, so I think it will make a great transition over to my spooky decor for the month of October!
