Have you ever showed up to one of your favorite restaurants and was made to wait over an hour for a table? It never works out for me very well because I usually have a hungry husband and a hungry, restless child with me – that combination is a recipe for disaster! So that being said, eating at popular restaurants is sort of a bust unless we show up at 4pm before the dinnertime rush.
And no, that doesn’t work for me…
So when I heard of the new BJ’s mobile app, I knew that it was the PERFECT way for us to enjoy a dinner out as a family. The app allows you to put your name in ahead of time, so you can be on the ‘preferred wait list’ when you arrive. All the ordering is done through the app, from drinks & appetizers to dessert.
I couldn’t wait for it to download so I could check out the menu!
First, I had to create an account so that it could tell me where my closest BJ’s Brewhouse would be located. That’s where I was able to put my name down on the preferred wait list, and specify what time we were expecting to show up. Once I got those details in, the next screen was all about ordering food!
Part of what I loved about the Dine In Order Ahead feature was that the children’s menu displayed delicious photos of what to expect. It made it simple for JP to pick out what he wanted because he didn’t need to read to understand. He just excitedly pointed towards the mini burgers, and he firmly decided that was what he was going to have. As for myself, I decided to go with the parmesan crusted chicken just because it looked so yummy!
…Then a few taps later… Order confirmed! We arrived later that day, promptly around the time we requested through the BJ’s mobile app. I couldn’t have been more pleased with the simplicity of how it worked so seamlessly! It basically went like this: We walked in, we strode past all the people waiting in the lobby area, sat down and waited for our food to arrive. No menus, no hassle – instead, we talked and enjoyed each other’s company until our food arrived. Both my boys were very happy – and so was I! My husband got the fish tacos and JP got the mini burgers.
The best part of the whole experience, was the checkout part. Did you know that BJ’s (at least the one I was at) has free wi-fi? The bill was active in the app, and paying was as simple as buying something online. We were so blown away by how easy it was to get in and out of an otherwise “busy” restaurant at rush hour on a saturday night. Here in Dallas, that never happens!
