This weekend, I decided to buy a valentine’s day gift with the intension of it being a gift that keeps on giving… I’ve talked before about how much I love the Walmart Family Mobile service and since I’ve been a Walmart family mobile customer myself, I decided to buy a telephone from their lineup with service as a Valentine’s day gift for my parents because it’s the cheapest wireless plans around. I checked out the electronics section, and found a few different options to choose from.
I came across the Evolve for $79, and I thought it was pretty high tech given the price. It had 3G, a decent camera, a screen bigger than my iPhone 4 and the ability to use email, text and browse the web. It’s hard to beat that for the price!! Add an extra $25 for the starter kit, and you’re in business with a brand new phone.
Since Valentine’s is a giving holiday, and my family is scattered around the globe at this time of year, I thought this would make a nice tool to help us all keep in touch with each other. My mom and dad are snowbirds who live in Florida until April, my sister remains in Canada yet travels south of the border quite often, and then there’s me & my little family in Dallas. Huge long distance bills have been a figment of our past ever since we discovered the cheapest wireless plans available with #FamilyMobile. We often use web apps to communicate, and now its even easier given that they can use this new phone to run it on!
So what are YOUR plans for your upcoming tax check? For as little as $100 you can get set up with a brand new smartphone that I think anybody would love to own. Thank you #CollectiveBias for making it possible to give this wonderful gift!
I’m gonna pair it with JP’s specially made valentine’s day card..
Be sure not to forget buying a starter kit when you get a phone. That’s the essential part towards activating everything and getting your phone number.. etc. The box itself will even remind you!
Setting it up was simple – I just simply added it to my existing account with a few clicks! Originally, the setup was pretty simple – all I needed was my driver’s license and the starter kit which contained the chip necessary to get the phone working.
The reason that this is the best Walmart plans for us is because of the no-contract aspect. After the end of April, both my parents will return to Canada, and will have no need for their mobile until they return the following November. It’s nice that they will be able to turn the service on and off without any penalties. That is what makes it so perfect!
