Have you ever been inside a World Market store? Have you ever wondered what they were all about? Ive been completely smitten with that shop ever since I first discovered it when I moved to Dallas. To sum it up – it’s a place that is chock full of eastern inspired housewares and a great place to source out hard-to-find gourmet ingredients. I went shopping there recently to purchase some goods for my Indian basmatti rice recipe and a few other things I found along the way.

When I think World Market, I think “Indian” so it’s no surprise that World Market is hosting an amazing sweepstakes to promote the new “Life of Pi” movie. Life of Pi is all about an Indian zookeeper’s son who survives an epic journey. It looks to me like it’s going to be one of those must-see feel good movies – see the trailer here.

There’s going to be some jaw dropping prizes.. like…

The Grand Prize package which includes a dream trip for 2 to India and a $1,000 World Market Gift card. Three runner-ups will each receive a 500$ World Market gift card. Enter by visiting the sweepstakes website or World Market’s Facebook Page

One thing that really stuck out was the amazing dining furniture. I’m sooo in love with this bench seating – I have to have it someday! Plus, a rustic table with imperfections like this is exactly what I need in my household.

Making Indian Basmatti Rice is pretty simple. I made sure to use real saffron – which is pretty expensive for such a small amount.  A little goes a long way! For 4.99$ this is how much you get – I better not sneeze when I open it!

So I began by steeping 1/4 tsp of Saffron (or more precisely, a pinch) with 1 can of prepared chicken broth.

Add in a teaspoon of salt and let it sit for 5 minutes – I began to Sautee 1 whole cup of basmatti rice in 2 tablespoons of garlic and herb butter. Be careful not to brown the rice, the idea is to get it nicely coated with the butter. Add in the chicken stock and get it to a nice high heat, and apply the lid to the pan. Once it’s bubbling, lower to heat to low and let it cook.

While that cooked up for about 18-20 minutes, I prepared some lemon pepper tilapia for my hubby 🙂
