Spring is one of my favorite times of year, from the promise of warm weather to the aroma of flowers blooming in the air. Spring makes me feel happy –  clocks go ahead an hour and we start enjoying longer days of sunshine. I love the warm wind on a soft sunny morning, with birds chirping. I have countless other reasons too such as my baby’s birthday and my wedding anniversary, but that’s a post for another day.

Ever since I became a mom, One of the projects I really looked forward to is the opportunity to grow a plant with JP. As a child, I was always fascinated with how seeds transform into a plant, eventually flower and become food.

I decided to pick up some new Miracle Gro Expand ‘n Gro™ soil because I’ve had such success with it in the past with other houseplants. The soil is rich with all the goodness that plants need to grow big, tall and lush. I chose to grow some basil in a flowerpot so we can keep it in our kitchen. Even if I don’t use any, I love the aroma it gives off – it reminds me of the smell from my grandfather’s garden.

The directions were pretty foolproof – add some soil in a flowerpot & add a little water. Mix it up, because it will expand and activate the nutrients within the soil. JP got a real kick out of watering the plants, that was his favorite part! As for me, I can’t wait to see my basil begin to sprout!
