Today I thought I’d share how I re-use my old candle jar containers. I never throw these away! They are far too cute and convenient to even that a passing thought. It’s almost like getting a little extra bonus when you buy a candle, to know that you will forever have the container it came in once the candle is long gone. I had this old used up candle jar with burned down wax and tons of sut all over it. I popped it in the freezer for about an hour.

And the leftover wax at the bottom should easily pop right out.

Then I soaked it in hot soapy water for about 5 minutes to remove the sut and wax, or you could just put it in the dishwasher, whichever is more convenient for you.

Wash and dry, and now you have an adorable lidded glass jar!

I love storing all kinds of crafty things in mine!

That’s a great idea! I have a jarred candle that’s so low it really should not be burned anymore, so this is a great way to extend the life of the jar.

That’s a good idea – putting it in the freezer is a smart way to get the wax and SOOT out of the jar. 🙂

After we put into the freezer we break into little pieces and melt in a plug in melter. similar to what you would do with the little yankee candle disks. works great and you get to use all the candle!

Thanks!! I’m actually upcycling my yankee candle jar for my DIY laundry soap! Great jar with a lid, like you said!
So did you have to scrub a ton to get the soot out? I tried and my hands are all black, but I didn’t do the soapy water soak either

Glad to hear you tried it out! The soapy water soak helps with the messy part and gets the jar squeaky clean. Nothing a little soap can’t take care of 🙂
